Chapter 2: Commandments about God

There is one thing for sure that we know about God: he wants you to pay attention to him.

And he not only wants your attention, he demands it. You must love him, worship him, trust him, fear him, obey him, serve him, exalt him, magnify him, glorify him, bless him, praise him, follow him, seek him, thank him, ask him, taste him, look at him, listen to him, get close to him, submit to him, work for him, wait for him, call upon him, walk with him, cleave to him, yield to him, return to him, and sing to him. All at the same time. (He'd also like you to build him a house and give him some presents -- including perfume.)

There are a total of 97 commandments about God in 320 passages.

The God of the Bible doesn't call himself "Jealous" for nothing.

  1. Don't be wicked (or evil) in the sight of the Lord.

  9. Every man must pay God one-half shekel annually.
  10. Count the number of men who are at least 20 years old and make each man, rich or poor, pay God half a shekel to protect him from the plague. This money will be used to maintain the tabernacle.

  11. Make some holy perfume for God.
  12. Make some holy perfume for God by mixing sweet spices, using equal amounts of stacte, onycha, galbanum, and pure frankincense. Put it in the tabernacle where God meets with you. It is God's holy perfume.
    And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight: And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy: And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy ... it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD.   13. Don't make any of God's holy perfume for your own use.
