Casting lots is God's way of choosing something.

God told Aaron to select the scapegoat by casting lots.

And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat. Leviticus 16:8

God divided the land of Israel by casting lots.

Ye shall therefore describe the land into seven parts, and bring the description hither to me, that I may cast lots for you here before the LORD our God. Joshua 18:6

God found out who was guilty of eating a little honey in the honey curse caper by casting lots.

And the apostles chose someone to replace Judas by casting lots.

And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. Acts 1:26
