In the famous scene from the book of Joshua, the priests blow trumpets, the people shout, and the walls come tumbling down.
Then Joshua and his men kill everything in the city of Jericho: men, women, children, animals. (Except for Rahab the harlot.)
After the slaughter, Joshua said,
Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it. Joshua 6:26
And acccording to 1 Kings 16:34, this curse was fulfilled.
In his days did Hiel the Bethelite build Jericho: he laid the foundation thereof in Abiram his firstborn, and set up the gates thereof in his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Joshua the son of Nun. 1 Kings 16:34
God forced Hiel to lay the foundation of Jericho with the body of his oldest son, Abiram, and set up the gate with his youngest son, Segub -- "according to the word of the Lord."
