Sons of Belial

There are lots of SOBs (Sons of Belial) in the Bible.

The men who wanted to have sex with the Levite in Judges 19 were Sons of Belial

Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him. Judges 19:22

Abigail's husband, Nabal, was a son of Belial - according to one of the young men who worked for him, anyway. (So God killed Nabal and gave his wife and possessions to David.)

Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master [Nabal], and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him. 1 Samuel 25:17

And Nabal's wife, Abigail, agreed, calling her husband a stupid man of Belial.

Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send. 1 Samuel 25:25

The sons of Eli were also sons of Belial, whom didn't know God.

Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD. 1 Samuel 2:12

God says that the sons of Belial are like thorns that hands can't touch. Whoever touches them must be fenced and burned on the spot.

The sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands: But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place. 2 Samuel 23:6-7

Jezebel wrote some letters in Ahab's name and sent them to the elders, saying, "Get some false witnesses (sons of Belial) to testify that Naboth has blasphemed God and the king. Then Naboth will be stoned to death."

She [Jezebel] wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people: And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him [Naboth], saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die. 1 Kings 21:10

And then some children of Belial stoned Nabal to death.

And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died. 1 Kings 21:13

There are also men of Belial

400 of David's men didn't want to share the spoils with the 200 who didn't fight the Amalekites. The greedy 400 were wicked men of Belial.

Then answered all the wicked men and men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the spoil that we have recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart. 1 Samuel 30:22

And Shimei cursed and called David a bloody man of Belial. (He was right about that.)

And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Come out, come out, thou bloody man, and thou man of Belial. 2 Samuel 16:7

There was a man named Sheba who blew a trumpet and said "We don't want anything to do with David." He was a wise man, but the Bible calls him a man of Belial.

And there happened to be there a man of Belial, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite: and he blew a trumpet, and said, We have no part in David. 2 Samuel 20:1

And children of Belial

Children of Belial are people who suggest that you should serve another God. (Kill them.)

Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known. ... Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city. Deuteronomy 13:13-15

The non-Benjaminite tribes asked the Benjaminite tribe to hand over the men who raped and killed the Levite's concubine. (They were children of Belial.)
