1-5 Hey you in the cloak. Get up and warn people. Wash your clothes. Avoid pollution.
8-10 When the trumpet sounds there will be a day of anguish for disbelievers.
11 Leave me to deal with him whom I created and made wealthy. 16 He was stubborn to our [Allah's] revelations, so I [Allah] will impose on him a fearful doom. 20 I'll fling him into the fire.
27-29 How can the burning be described? It burns everyone and spares no one.
30 Above it are nineteen.
31 We have appointed angels to be wardens of the fire. We've made their number a stumbling block to disbelievers.
The disbelievers say, "What is the meaning of this?"
But Allah sends astray whoever he wants.
41-42 The guilty will ask each other, Why are you being burned?
43-46 They'll answer, “We didn't pray or feed the wretched. We waded with the waders. And we denied judgment day.”
48 No mediators will help them. 50-51 They are like frightened asses fleeing from a lion. 46 Allah is the fount of fear.
1-2 No, I swear by resurrection day and by the accusing soul that this scripture is true.
3 Do people think we can't assemble their bones? 4 We can assemble their very fingers!
6 They ask, "When will be this resurrection day?"
8-9 It'll be when the moon is eclipsed, and the sun and moon are united.
20-21 You love the now and neglect the hereafter.
24-25 On that day, faces will be despondent. 27 They'll say, “Where is the wizard who can save us?”, knowing that some great disaster is about to fall on them.
29-30 Agony will be heaped on agony. Your Lord will be doing the driving.
31-32 Those who neither trusted nor prayed but denied and flouted. 35 Nearer and nearer to them is the doom.
1 Has there ever been a time when humans didn't exist?
2 We [Allah] created man from a drop of thickened fluid.
4 Chains, shackles, and a raging fire
5 But the righteous will drink from a cup mixed with camphor. 6 And Allah's slaves will drink from a spring. 12-13 They'll live in a garden and wear silk clothes, reclining on couches in pleasant weather. 14-17 They'll sit in the shade and eat fruit, drinking from goblets of silver and beakers of glass, with ginger-flavored water from a spring named Slasabil.
19-20 And they'll be waited on by immortal youths, who look like scattered pearls. When you see them, they'll put you in a state of bliss. 21 They'll wear fine green silk with gold embroidery, and silver bracelets.
24 So submit to your Lord's command, and don't obey any disbelievers.
31 For evildoers, Allah has prepared a painful doom.
8-13 When the stars are put out, the sky is ripped apart and the mountains are blown away, on the day of decision.
15, 19, 24, 28, 34, 37, 40, 45, 47 Woe to the deniers on that day!
16 Didn't we [Allah] destroy people before? 17 And then caused people after them to follow them? 18 That's what we do to guilty people.
20 Didn't we create you from a base fluid?
23 We are excellent arrangers!
25-26 Didn't we make the earth a container for both the living and dead?
29-31 Someone will say to them, “Go to the doom which you used to deny. Where there is no shelter from the flame.”
38-39 This is the day of decision. When you and the men of old are gathered together. If you have any wit, outwit me.
50 After this, what will they believe?
