Job 42

Job concedes to God

42 ¹ Job said to God,

² You can do anything and can read everyone's mind.

⁵ I've heard you speak before, but now I can see you.

⁶ So I hate myself and repent in dust and ashes.

Job's friends sacrifice animals for God

⁷ Then God said to Eliphaz and his friends,

I'm mad at you for not speaking well enough of me, as Job has.

⁸ So take seven bullocks and seven rams and offer them to me as a burnt offering.

Job will pray for you, and I'll accept your offerings.

⁹ So Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar sacrificed the animals and God accepted Job.

God gives Job twice as much stuff as he had before (with even prettier daughters!)

¹⁰ God gave Job twice as much as he had before.

¹¹ All of Job's friends and relatives ate dinner with him and comforted him from all the evil that God did to him.

¹² God gave Job twice as many animals as he had before: 14,000 sheep, 6000 camels, 1000 oxen, and 1000 female donkeys.

¹³ He also had seven sons and three daughters, whose names were Jemima, Kezia, Kerenhappuch.

¹⁵ They were the prettiest women in all the land, and they shared in the inheritance with their brothers.

^16-17 Job lived 140 years and died.
