This is the Scripture whereof there is no doubt. 2:2

Mary The Mother Of Jesus

Mary the mother of Jesus, is the only woman mentioned by name in the Quran.

There is an entire chapter (or surah) that is named for her (Surah 19). She is mentioned more in the Quran than in the New Testament of the Bible. (70 verses in the Quran, 19 in the New Testament)

According to the angels, Mary is Allah's favorite woman.

The angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah hath chosen thee and made thee pure, and hath preferred thee above (all) the women of creation. Quran 3:42

She was the sister of Aaron.

In the Bible, Aaron had a sister named Mary (Miriam). But if he existed he lived 1400 years before Mary.

Aaron and Moses's father was Amram, who may be the Imran that is called Mary's father in the Quran.

So the Quran seems to have confused Mary the mother of Jesus with Miriam the sister of Aaron and Moses.

O Mary! Thou hast come with an amazing thing. O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a wicked man nor was thy mother a harlot. 19:27-28

Mary, daughter of 'Imran, whose body was chaste, therefor We breathed therein something of Our Spirit. 66:12
