Did Elisha receive Elijah's mantle before or after Elijah is taken up into heaven?

Before

So he ... found Elisha ... and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. 1 Kings 19:19

After

Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. He [Elisha] took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him. 2 Kings 2:11-13
