0 What The Mormon Scriptures says about People who fell to earth

I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book. Joseph Smith, History of the Church, 4:461

People-who-fell-to-earth

Sherem fell to the earth when he heard Jacob say that God would give him a sign by killing him.

And it came to pass that he [Sherem] said unto me [Jacob]: Show me a sign by this power of the Holy Ghost, in the which ye know so much.

And I said unto him: What am I that I should tempt God to show unto thee a sign in the thing which thou knowest to be true? Yet thou wilt deny it, because thou art of the devil. Nevertheless, not my will be done; but if God shall smite thee, let that be a sign unto thee that he has power, both in heaven and in earth; and also, that Christ shall come. And thy will, O Lord, be done, and not mine.

And it came to pass that when I, Jacob, had spoken these words, the power of the Lord came upon him, insomuch that he fell to the earth. Jacob 7:13-15

And after God gave Sherem a sign (by killing him), everyone fell to the earth.

And when the multitude had witnessed that he spake these things as he was about to give up the ghost, they were astonished exceedingly; insomuch that the power of God came down upon them, and they were overcome that they fell to the earth. Jacob 7:21

When Alma Jr. and his brothers were rebelling against God, an angel appeared in a cloud, and spoke with the voice of thunder, causing the earth to shake. When they saw that, they fell to the earth in astonishment.

And as I said unto you, as they were going about rebelling against God, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto them; and he descended as it were in a cloud; and he spake as it were with a voice of thunder, which caused the earth to shake upon which they stood;

And so great was their astonishment, that they fell to the earth, and understood not the words which he spake unto them. Mosiah 27:11-12

After the angel talked to them a bit more, they fell to the earth again. (And Alma Jr. was paralyzed.)

And now Alma and those that were with him fell again to the earth, for great was their astonishment; for with their own eyes they had beheld an angel of the Lord; and his voice was as thunder, which shook the earth.

And now the astonishment of Alma was so great that he became dumb, that he could not open his mouth; yea, and he became weak, even that he could not move his hands. Mosiah 27:18-19

When Alma asked God to help him escape from prison, God broke the cords that bound him. When the people saw this they were so afraid that they fell to the earth (twice!).

And Alma cried, saying: How long shall we suffer these great afflictions, O Lord? O Lord, give us strength according to our faith which is in Christ, even unto deliverance. And they broke the cords with which they were bound; and when the people saw this, they began to flee, for the fear of destruction had come upon them.

And it came to pass that so great was their fear that they fell to the earth, and did not obtain the outer door of the prison; and the earth shook mightily, and the walls of the prison were rent in twain, so that they fell to the earth; and the chief judge, and the lawyers, and priests, and teachers, who smote upon Alma and Amulek, were slain by the fall thereof. Alma 14:26-27

Alma tells the same story (more or less) to his son Helaman.

And behold, he spake unto us, as it were the voice of thunder, and the whole earth did tremble beneath our feet; and we all fell to the earth. Alma 36:7

And it came to pass that I fell to the earth; and it was for the space of three days and three nights that I could not open my mouth, neither had I the use of my limbs. Alma 36:10

And the angel spake more things unto me, which were heard by my brethren, but I did not hear them; for when I heard the words -- If thou wilt be destroyed of thyself, seek no more to destroy the church of God -- I was struck with such great fear and amazement lest perhaps I should be destroyed, that I fell to the earth and I did hear no more. Alma 36:11

When the people saw the chief judge lying in his own blood (as Nephi predicted), they were astonished and fell to the earth.

And now behold, when they saw this they were astonished exceedingly, insomuch that they fell to the earth; for they had not believed the words which Nephi had spoken concerning the chief judge. Helaman 9:4

We ran and came to the place of the judgment-seat, and when we saw all things even as Nephi had testified, we were astonished insomuch that we fell to the earth; and when we were recovered from our astonishment, behold they cast us into prison. Helaman 9:14

People who didn't believe the prophets who said Jesus would be coming soon, fell to the earth as though they were dead.

And there were many, who had not believed the words of the prophets, who fell to the earth and became as if they were dead, for they knew that the great plan of destruction which they had laid for those who believed in the words of the prophets had been frustrated; for the sign which had been given was already at hand.

And they began to know that the Son of God must shortly appear; yea, in fine, all the people upon the face of the whole earth from the west to the east, both in the land north and in the land south, were so exceedingly astonished that they fell to the earth. 3 Nephi 1:16-17

The Nephites fell to the earth when they saw Giddianhi's army.

It came to pass that the armies of the Nephites, when they saw the appearance of the army of Giddianhi, had all fallen to the earth, and did lift their cries to the Lord their God, that he would spare them and deliver them out of the hands of their enemies. 3 Nephi 4:8

When Jesus made his appearance in America, everyone fell to the earth when they remembered that it had been prophesied.

And it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words the whole multitude fell to the earth; for they remembered that it had been prophesied among them that Christ should show himself unto them after his ascension into heaven. 3 Nephi 11:12

After Coriantumr smote off the head of Shiz, he fell to the earth like he was dead.

And it came to pass that Coriantumr fell to the earth, and became as if he had no life. Ether 15:32

Samuel the Lamanites prophesied that when Jesus was born there would be signs and wonders that would make people fall to the earth.

There shall be many signs and wonders in heaven. And it shall come to pass that ye shall all be amazed, and wonder, insomuch that ye shall fall to the earth. Helaman 14:6-7
