"I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious
words." -- 3 John 10
Third John for Skeptics
If you measure by the number of words, 3 John is the shortest book in the Bible. There's not much to say about it, since it doesn't say very much. I
have no idea why it was included in the Bible.
Here are a few highlights (if you can call them that):
- "I wrote unto the church."
There was another epistle of John that has since been lost. 9
- John says he "will remember his [Diotrephes] deeds ... pratting against us with malicious words." 10
- "Follow not that which is evil, but that which is good." 11
- "He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God." 11
