Episode 32: We killed them all with one shout
Surah 36: Ya Sin
Ya Sin - by the wise Quran
1 Ya Sin. 2 By the wise Quran.
Carcans reaching to their chins
8 We [Allah] have put shackles on their necks that reach their chins to make them stiff-necked. 9 We've put a barrier in front of them and a barrier behind them so they can't see. 10 It doesn't matter if you warn them, because they don't believe.
12 We bring the dead to life.
We killed them all with one shout
13 Here's a parable:
Allah sent messengers to a city. 14 The people rejected the first and second group of messengers, so Allah sent a third, who said, "We've been sent to you."
15 The people said, "You're just mortals like us. And you lie."
16 The messengers said, "We're just here to deliver a message."
18 The people said, "Well, we think you're up to no good. So if you don't stop, we're going to stone and torture you."
19 The messengers said, "You’re a tough crowd."
20 Then a man ran from the city, saying, “Follow the messengers. 21 They're not asking for money, and they are rightly guided.”
26 Someone said to him, "Enter paradise."
He said, "I wish my people knew my Lord pardoned me."
28 We didn't send a host from heaven to kill the people in the city. 29 We just shouted, and it killed them all.
30 Messengers are always mocked.
How many generations we have destroyed!
31 Haven't they seen how many generations we have destroyed?
33 A token for them is the dead earth. 37 And a token for them is the night.
We bear their offspring in a laden ship
38 The sun runs to its resting place. 39 And we [Allah] have given the moon mansions to live in until she returns like an old, shriveled palm leaf. 40 It isn't the sun's job to overtake the moon, or the night to outstrip the day. They each float in an orbit. 41 It is a token for them that we bear their offspring in a ship.
If we want to, we can drown them all
43 If we want to, we can drown them all. 46 There was never a token that they didn't reject.
Happily employed with their wives
49 A single shout will surprise everyo
ne while they are arguing.
51 A trumpet will blow, and all the dead bodies will rise from the graves, crying, “Woe upon us! Who raised us from our sleep?”
53 There will be just one shout, and all the dead bodies will be brought to us. 55-56 The men in paradise will be happily employed with their wives.
This is hell (which you were promised)
59-64 Then Allah will say to the guilty, “This is hell, where you will burn for disbelieving.”
77 We created man from a drop of seed.
