Let thy words be few. Ecclesiastes 5:2
11 1-2 The Law of Mosiah established that judges were appointed and received daily wages. 2 The judges decided cases and determined who would pay whom and how much they’d pay. 3 Judges were paid a senine of gold for a day’s work. 4 This is the system of measurement that the Nephites used. (It wasn't like that of the Jews.)
7 A senine of gold = a senum of silver = measure of barley (or any other grain)
8 A seon of gold = 2 senine
9 A shum of gold = 2 seons
10 A limnah of gold = the value of them all
11 An amnor of silver = 2 senums
12 An ezrom of silver = 4 senums
13 An onti = the value of them all
15 A shiblon = a half a senum = a half measure of barley
16 A shiblum = a half shiblon
17 A leah = half a shiblum
19 An antion of gold = three shiblons
21 Zeezrom was an expert in the devices of the devil. He said to Amulek, 22 “Here are six onities of silver. I’ll give them to you if you will say that there is no God.”
23 Amulek said, “Oh you child of hell! Why do you tempt me? 24 Do you believe there is no God? No, you believe there’s a God, but you love money more than him.”
26 Zeezrom (the cleverest of the lawyers) said to Amulek, “So you say there’s a God?”
27 Amulek said, “Yes, there is a God.”
28 “Is there more than one God?” asked Zeezrom.
29 “No.”
30 “How do you know that?”
31 “An angel told me.”
32 "Is the Son of God coming?"
33 “Yes.”
34 “Will the Son of God come to save people from sin?”
“No, he won’t.”
35 Zeezrom said to the people, “Remember this. He said that the Son of God will come, but he won’t save his people.”
36-37 Amulek said, “God said no unclean thing can enter heaven. So you can’t be saved from your sins.”
38 Zeezrom said, “Is the Son of God the eternal Father?”
39 Amulek said, “Yes, he is the eternal Father.”
46 After Amulek spoke for a while, the people were astonished and Zeezrom began to tremble. And that’s all Amulek said, or at least that’s all that I wrote down.
12 1 After Amulek had silenced Zeezrom, he said to him, 3-6 “You lied to me, but not only to me, but to God also. You are an agent of the devil.”
7 When Zeezrom heard Amulek’s words, he began to tremble exceedingly. 8 Then Zeezrom asked Alma, “What does Amulek mean when he talks about the resurrection of the dead?”
9 Alma replied, “God lets many people understand his mysteries, but he doesn’t allow those whose hearts are hardened to understand the greater portion of the word. 10-11 They only get the lesser part, and then they’re taken captive by the devil who drags them down to hell.”
12 Amulek spoke plainly about the bar of God and the awful state of those who are condemned. They will be tormented forever in a lake of fire and brimstone.
20 Antionah, one of the chief rulers, said to Alma, “You said that we will rise from the dead and live forever. 21 Then why does scripture say that God placed cherubim and a flaming sword on the east side of the garden of Eden to keep our first parents from eating the fruit of the tree of life and thereby live forever? They didn’t eat from the tree, so they didn’t live forever.”
22 Alma said, “Yeah, I was about to explain that. 26 If our first parents had eaten from the tree of life they would have been forever miserable, since they had no preparatory state.”
13 1 Alma continued his speech to Zeezrom and people of Ammonihah. Here’s sone of what he said:
Priests were ordained directly by God, according to the order of his Son. 11 Their garments were washed white in the blood of the Lamb.
14-15 Abraham paid tithes to the high priest Melchizedek equal to one-tenth of all that he owned. 8 He was the king of Salem, was called the prince of peace, and reigned under his father. 19 No one was greater than him.
31 Alma said much more than this, but I didn’t write them down in this book.
