Section 63
Revelation given through Joseph Smith at Kirtland, Ohio, August 30, 1831
1 Listen to me. 2 I'm angry with those who are wicked and rebellious. 3 I kill, or keep alive, whoever I want. 4 I destroy things for my own pleasure. I can even send souls to hell. 6 The wicked, rebellious, and unbelieving should all be afraid.
Don't ask me for signs
9 Faith doesn't come from signs; signs come from faith. 11 God s angry with people who don't have faith. He doesn't show signs to them, he condemns them. 12 So I'm not pleased with those of you who ask for signs and wonders.
The lake of fire and brimstone
14 Some of you are adulterers and adulteresses. 16 Whoever looks at a woman with lust has committed adultery in their hearts. 17 The fearful, unbelieving, liars, whoremongers, and sorcerers will be burned in the lake of fire and brimstone.
Go to Zion and buy land
24 Now it’s time for you to go to Zion. But don't hurry, or you'll be confused. And confusion causes disease. 25 I, the Lord, hold Zion in my hands. 26 But I give to Ceasar the things that are Caesar's. 27 So when you get there, buy the land. 29 You'll ether get the land by buying it or killing others for it. 30 If you buy it, you'll be blessed. 31 But if you kill for it, you'll be scourged from synagogue to synagogue.
32 I, the Lord, and angry with wicked people. I'm withholding my spirit from the people on earth. 33 When I get angry I create wars where wicked people kill each other, and everyone is afraid. 3434 It'll be hard for the saints to escape. But I'll come down from heaven and save them by burning the wicked with unquenchable fire. 35 I'm not going to do this for a while though. I'll do it by and by.
36 I'd like the saints to go to Zion. 37 I'd like every man to have righteous hands and faithful loins. 38 So my disciples in Kirtland should get their things in order.
Titus Billings - sell your land and give the money to Zion
39 Titus Billings should sell the land and go to Zion. 40 I really don't care how much money he gets for the farm, but he should bring the money with him to Zion. 41 I've given Joseph Smith, Jr. the job of deciding who will go to Zion and who will stay.
Newell K. Witney - Open a store and give the money to Zion
42 Let Newel K. Whitney keep his store. Or in other words, keep the store for a while. 43 But all the money he gets must be sent to Zion.
Oliver Cowdery gets all the money
46 Oliver Cowdery will receive all the money.
49 Dead people that rise from the dead will never die again. 50 Those that are alive when the Lord comes, will still die at the age of man. 53 The Son of Man is coming soon. 54 He'll come to the wise and foolish virgins. His angels will pluck out the wicked and cast them into unquenchable fire.
Sidney Rigdon - I don't like your writing
55 I, the Lord, am not pleased with Sidney Rigdon. 56 I don't like his writing, so he'll have to make another. If I don't like that, I'll fire him.
58 This is a day of warning, not a day of many words. Don't mock me in these last days. 59 I'm from above and my power lies below. I'm over everything - in, out, and through it all. 60 I'm Jesus. 61 Be careful when you say my name.
65 Let Joseph Smith, Jr. and Sidney Rigdon look for homes.
66 Be patient, or you'll be condemned. Amen.
