0 Tobias : Absurdity

The Lord hath sent me to heal thee, and to deliver Sara thy son's wife from the devil. 12:14

  1. The king ordered Tobias to be killed, when he heard that Tobias was burying the bodies. 1:22
  2. Tobias ran away naked with his son and wife. 1:23
  3. As he was sleeping, some hot dung from a swallow's nest fell into his eyes and made him blind. 2:11
  4. Tobias prayed with tears, saying, "It's better for me to die than live." 3:1-6
  5. Sara the daughter of Raguel had seven husbands who were all killed by a devil named Asmodeus when they first had sex with her. 3:7
  6. Sara prayed to God, saying, "Either kill me or make people stop saying bad things about me. I never lusted after any of my husbands." 3:11-16
  7. The next morning, Tobias went to wash his feet, and a monstrous fish tried to eat him. 6:2
  8. The angel said, " If you put a piece of its heart on the coals, the smoke will drive away all kinds of devils. And the gall is good for the eyes. If you have a white speck on them, it'll cure them. 6:8-9
  9. The angel said to Tobias, "Here is the home of Raguel. He has a daughter named Sara. You must marry her." 6:11-12
  10. Tobias said, "I heard she had seven husbands, who were all killed by the devil. I'm afraid the same thing might happen to me." 6:14-15
  11. Raphael said, "I'll show you who the devil can prevail over. It's those who give in to lust like a horse or a mule." 6:16-17
  12. Tobias said, I won't eat or drink today unless you let me marry your daughter. When Raguel heard this he was afraid, knowing what happened to the seven men who had sex with her. 7:10-11
  13. The angel Raphael took the devil to Egypt and tied him up there. 8:3
  14. Tobias prayed, saying, "I didn't marry my sister for lust, but to have children." 8:7-9
  15. Then Raguel ordered his servants to dig a grave. Just in case the same thing happened to Tobias as happened to Sara's other three husbands when they had sex with her. 8:11-12
  16. Raguel said to his wife, "Send one of the maids to see if he's dead, so I can bury him while there's still daylight." 8:13-14
  17. The maid wen to the room and found them both safely sleeping together. She told Raguel and Anna, and they said to God, "Thank you God. We thought Tobias would be dead by now." 8:15-17
  18. And Raguel told his servants to cover up the grave that they had dug. 8:20
  19. Raphael said to Tobias, "When you get home, take the gall from the fish and wipe it on his eyes. That will cure him of his blindness." 11:7-8
  20. When Tobias got home, he rubbed the fish gall on his father's eyes. In about half an hour, the white skin on his eyes pealed off (like the skin of an egg). And Tobias could see again. 11:13-15
  21. Tobias Sr. asked his son, "What can I give this holy man with you?" Tobias Jr answered, "What should we give him? He traveled with me, got the money from Gabelus, got me a wife, chased away her evil spirit, and saved me from being eaten by a fish. So you should give him half of everything we brought back with us." 12:1-4
  22. Raphael said to Tobias Sr., "The Lord sent me to save Sara, your son's wife, from the devil. Because I am Raphael, on the the seven who stand before the Lord." And they fell on their face. 12:13-15
  23. Raphael said, "When I was with you I seemed to eat and drink, but it was invisible meat and drink." 12:19
  24. Then Raphael went away. And everyone lay prostrate on their face for three hours. 12:21-22
  25. Tobias Sr. said, "You are great, Oh Lord, because you lead us to hell and back again. No one can escape from you." 13:1-2
