0 Jacob : Interpretation

The Jews were a stiffnecked people; and they despised the words of plainness, and killed the prophets, and sought for things that they could not understand. Wherefore ... God hath taken away his plainness from them. 4:14

Trivia: What did Jacob say would happen to the Nephites if they didn't repent?

Jacob : Interpretation (2)

  1. "If I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things."
Notice that Jacob condemned polygamy, except when the Lord wants his people "to raise up seed unto" him. The LDS church uses this verse to justify Joseph Smith's polygamy revelation, along with his 50 or so wives. 2:30

  2. "We keep the law of Moses."
Since the Nephites obeyed all the Old Testament laws, shouldn't modern Mormons?" 4:5
