The Pre-Adamites

God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. -- Genesis 1:27

One way of dealing with the two contradictory creation accounts is to say that the reason there are two different stories is that there were two different creations. This has been a common interpretation historically, and it is still found today.

It does solve a few problems. It explains, for example:

  • Why there are two contradictory creation accounts.

  • Where Cain found his wife and found enough people to build a city. (Genesis 4:12-17)

  • The origin of native Americans, Australians, Polynesians, etc.

  • Why the first account doesn't mention Adam or Eve.

But Pre-Adamite theology has also been used to support racism and anti-Semitism.
