Romans 1:28-32And that the rulers have the power to execute God's wrath with the sword.Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. ... For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. ... If thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Romans 13:1-4While Revelation states quite matter of factly that:He that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Revelation 13:10
And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. Genesis 4:15Jesus implied that capital punishment should only be performed by sinless people.
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
